SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX)- South Mississippi veteran Gary Harrington collects artifacts and does paintings in honor of military veterans.

From the revolutionary war to Operation Desert Storm and all American wars in between are memorialized by Harrington.

Harrington, a Vietnam veteran blends artifacts with his paintings to recognize and remember American battles.

"I've mixed art with memorabilia to give a larger picture," said Harrington.

Harrington has collected war time uniforms, medals, patches and soldier's personal effects.

Congratulations to Paige Spiers for being the runner-up in class II Girl’s State golf Championship. Paige shot an 80 the first day of competition and an 89 the second day at the State competition. Paige did a fine job of representing the Poplarville High School golf team and we are looking for greater things in the future.

PRCC retirees honored, employees awarded for service

Pearl River Community College:

An unexpected rainstorm cut short the annual Pearl River Community College Employee Appreciation Dinner on May 3 outside the home of President William and Janet Gale Lewis.

The heavy rain forced many to leave early and others to take shelter on the porches of the Lewis’s home. As a result, the retirement and service awards to PRCC employees had to be postponed. The awards were prsented on Tuesday, May 8, to employees on the Poplarville campus and the following day at the Forrest County Center.

PHS Football Win at Stone

The Varsity football team closed out spring practice Friday with a win at Stone County 54-31.

PUE Afterschool Program Manipulated Colors

Poplarville School District:

The students in the afterschool program at PUE manipulated colors in an activity.  Ms. Tammy Krutzfeldt led an investigation with our students on color and light.
